Before the destabilization event Kugid was an island with a rocky southern point and a lush northern point. Mush like the rest of the Doshad population the people of Kugid followed the ideas of the God Viret and his wife Doshad and their eternal battle with Ibeth their version of the devil.

At some point [dates to be set in stone] there was an idea of exploring the sea to the west which no one had done before. Some believed the ocean ended and there was just the void (space) others argued that the eternal ocean was without end. Others thought that they could sail to Viret himself.

Regardless of the reasons an exploration party set out, they sailed off and eventually discovered Destas Vish, the Black Continent. They were gone for a long time before they eventually returned to Kugid and changed their entire culture.

with their return the exploration party brought with them concepts like tattooing and piercing. They also brought with them a darker belief system, now shunning the beliefs of old.

Possible idea - they believed that the void (space) was the true god and that all the stars were the eyes of this large being that encompassed all thus how could Viret be a god or Ibeth a threat if they were encompassed by the void.

Ileshar - Universe, name of the void god?

More and more started to believe the new ideas, the practice of eating their dead began with the idea that you take that person's strength into your own to make you a better person. At this point the population split with some who clung to the old ways fleeing Kugid to Viram and beginning a new there.

As time went on the Kugid got more aggressive and started attacking the Viram the result of which was the Viram having to pay a tax to the Kugid in way of food metals and other materials. The Kugid came to rely on the Viram for all their food and neglected their own farms and so forth. As generations went on the old skills of farming etc were lost.

When the destabilization event happened Viram sank beneath the sea cutting off the food supply for the Kugid people. Kugid suffered geological issues also but did not sink, instead the island became largely barren further compounding food issues for the population. As a result the Kugid people turned on themselves devolving into cannibalistic behavior. Tribes rose up battling out for supremacy and survival.

Eventually a tribe gained power, enslaving the other tribes and using them as cattle basically to keep the tribe alive.

It is unknown if any of the Kugid remain, the island is shunned due to being dangerous and for the considered darkness that lurks there. There are rumors that the Kugid have rediscovered how to build boats and have started raiding the coasts of Sunad and Visharam but these are unconfirmed.

It is unknown if people will eventually get to visit this island. If they do it will be a dark place full of eerie whispers and hints of "dark magics"
